Kootenai Falls MT and the Tale of the Oru Kayak

Odyssey day 19 and we are off to the beautiful State of Montana for another 2 day visit with friends. This time it's a lake house in Troy, Montana which is home of the famous Kootenai Falls.
Kootenai Falls, located in northwestern Montana along US Highway 2, is the state's largest undammed waterfall. Accessible by a 0.5-mile trail from the Kootenai Falls/Swinging Bridge Parking Area, it features a suspended bridge offering scenic views of the gorge. The entire area is truly spectacular. Almost as striking is our friends' lake house. Lake Savage is not very big, but is surrounded by Evergreen-covered mountains!

We came upon the perfect opportunity here at a small relatively calm lake to try out the recent game-changer in personal watercraft. That would be the Oru Kayak! The world's first Origami Kayak is literally the adventure that unfolds. We had kind of inside info on this product because a couple we know at home in New Mexico has a son who invented it! An incredibly stable and smooth kayak basically folds up into a suitcase size package that weighs as little as 17 pounds!
I found it the perfect fishing vehicle on this trip and Cathy enjoyed just cruising around the lakes and rivers in it. We had no problem packing 2 of them along with all our other stuff in the RV.

We borrowed 2 of these kayaks from friends to try out and they worked really great. Cathy's was a smaller version and actually one of the original prototypes so it was a little more tricky to assemble. The larger and wider one I used was a later model and it was a snap (no pun intended) to put together. The contemporary ones can be assembled in 10 minutes!

This stop was overall a definite Odyssey highlight and could make the top 5. We will see at the end!
Thanks for reading...and watching!
